Player of the Week: The legendary kennyS
This week’s chosen one is no other than Kenny “kennyS” Schrub – Can the Frenchman return to the top of CS:GO?
The French CS:GO titan with the name of Kenny "kennyS" Schrub is an institution within CS:GO itself, with the legendary AWPer having been one of the most influential players in the history of the game. Alongside his strong countrymen, kennyS has racked up a myriad of trophies from the best events in the world, topping it all with the Major title from DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca in 2015.
For a long period of time when kennyS were at his peak, he literally dictated how the AWPing role should be played, inspiring thousands on thousands of players to pick up the powerful sniper rifle and start flicking and showboating like the legend himself.

The Benching on G2
On March the 4th of this year, the unthinkable happened. Something, no one ever thought would happen – kennyS on the bench. Even though he has produced historical low numbers in late 2020 and early 2021, such a move would be a very tough thing to do, owing to his legacy and his importance in French Counter-Strike.

However, the benching became a reality, as Audric "JaCkz" Jug returned to the active roster in his place, after another disappointing showing by kennyS and G2 at IEM Katowice.
- kennyS is a pillar within G2 and a legend in the scene. We all feel that, though difficult, a new home for him will be a great opportunity to remain at the top. - G2 coach, maLeK.
The future
It’s no surprise that kennyS haven’t been up to his best standards the last couple of years, in fact, he has been miles away from his glory days in 2015-2017. With that being said, it’s foolish to conclude that he’s days at the top of CS:GO are numbered, just because of his recent form.
kennyS has still from time to time showed glimpses of the ‘old kennyS’ who could dominate an entire Counter-Strike scene with his beloved AWP. And if he could bring back some much-needed consistency in his performances mixed with his astounding top-level, he could be a perfect fit for several strong teams.
The romantic choice would be that he joins his former teammate Nathan “NBK-“ Schmitt at DBL Poney. The newly established roster is a promising mix of experienced veterans and talented and upcoming players, which lately has produced some impressive results, beating strong teams like mousesports, Sprout, and LDLC.
