Media: k0nfig has already signed with Astralis
According to TV2 Sporten, a contract between the two parties has been agreed upon and signed.
Thursday night, it was revealed that Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke has parted ways with Complexity, as “he has chosen a different direction for 2022”, the organization announced on Twitter. The news came after several rumours of the strong rifler joining his countrymen from Astralis in a blockbuster transfer.
Just one day after the news of k0nfig leaving the “Juggernauts”, TV2 Sporten has issued an article stating that the 24-year-old Dane already has put pen to paper on a contract with the CS titans from Astralis. The article doesn't say anything about the length or extent of the deal.
k0nfig is currently on sick leave from Complexity, as he suffered a serious wrist injury in August, right before the start of ESL Pro League Season 14. Something, he still is recovering from at this moment. Complexity has in the meantime brought in the Brazilian superstar Marcelo “coldzera” David to replace the Danish powerhouse.
A new era for Astralis?
If the signing of k0nfig is legit, it could be the beginning of a new era at Astralis, with profiled figures in Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth, and Danny "zonic" Sørensen all set to leave the team at the end of this year, if they don't get their contract renewed.
Astralis will consist of the following players, if k0nfig joins the team:
Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth (Contract expiry 31/12 2021)
Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen (Contract expiry 31/12 2021)
Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander
Emil "Magisk" Reif
Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen
Philip "Lucky" Ewald
Kristian "k0nfig" Wiencke
Pley.gg has reached out to Astralis for a comment on the rumours concerning k0nfig, but Astralis wished not to give a statement.
