m0NESY before first Tier 1 match: We can do crazy things
In his first video interview in English, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov talks about his upcoming debut in Tier 1 Counter-Strike and how he has slotted in on the team so far.
He is only 16-years-old, but already now Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov has become a household name among those who follow competitive CS:GO closely. The $600.000 (reportedly) transfer fee from NAVI to G2 speaks volumes about the expectations that lay on the shoulder of the young Russian.
Friday afternoon Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov will make his debut in Tier 1 Counter-Strike when G2 faces Complexity in the opening round of BLAST Premier Spring Groups. A match where all eyes will be on the 16-year-old AWP'er.
- I haven't played against teams who were anti-stratting against me. It will be a bit tough in Tier 1 because teams like for example Complexity will have an anti-strategist, who will know how I play. So they prepare for you and watch your demos, and they analyze how you play on different positions, so it will be a bit tough maybe. But I will be ready.
Not only will m0NESY need to prepare for a new level of competition, but he also needs to do it in a brand new team, where he will need to communicate in English. A big task for the youngster, who needs to be on point with his communication in order to help his teammates in the best way possible.
- I have a role where I always need to move and talk. I need to communicate with my teammates and I need to be able to rotate good. That was a bit tough for me in the beginning, but now it is good because my teammates have helped me.
So what can we expect from the G2 roster tomorrow? A lot, if you ask m0NESY.
- I can say, that we are actually good. And we can do crazy things!
G2 and Complexity play the opening match of BLAST Premier Spring Groups tomorrow (Friday) at 15.00 (CET).
