Heroic best OG 2-0
The Danes proved superior when facing OG in the first Semifinal of BLAST Premier Fall Showdown
Things are beginning to get intense at the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2021 event, as we have reached the Semifinals where only four teams are left battling. The first victor was to be found between Heroic and OG. The Danes were slight favorites on paper going into the Bo3-series, however, with very little separating the two teams in terms of results and rankings it seemed destined to be a close affair. Whilst the final 2-0 result doesn’t depict a close series, both maps were intense and could have gone either way. Ultimately, however, it was the Danes to prove themselves as the stronger roster and take home the 2-0 victory against OG.
The first map was the choice of OG and saw the Bo3-series start on Inferno. With Heroic opting to ban Dust 2, the possibility for OG to pick Inferno was left wide open and with a 100% win rate over the past three months, it was no surprise that the European roster chose Inferno as their map pick. Inferno started, as one would have imagined, as close as possible with both teams refusing to give their opponents a chance to run away with a lead. At halftime, the scoreline read 8-7 and Inferno was very much anyone’s map to take home. The second half started with OG as the, seemingly, stronger roster. This, however, soon changed as Heroic shifted into a higher gear and steamrolled through the defense of OG. At the scoreline of 16-12, it was the Danes to take home Inferno and position themselves for a possible 2-0 victory with Overpass coming up.
As mentioned, the second map of the series was to be played on Overpass and was, of course, picked by Heroic. Overpass is one of the Danes’ favorite maps and has become a staple in their strategic arsenal. Known for their quick and crazy rotations, both as T’s and CT’s it is almost impossible to read Heroic when facing them on Overpass. Once again it was OG to come flying out of the gate and gain an early lead over Heroic, however, it didn’t last long. Just as on Inferno it was Heroic to get fired up on their T-side and claw themselves back into a leveled playing field. Things were once again as close as possible as the two teams walked to halftime at the scoreline of 8-7. The second half saw a more dominating Heroic roster silence the T’s strategical approaches and begin to finish what they had started. At the scoreline of 16-11, it was the Danes to secure the 2-0 victory and move past OG at the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2021 event.
