Danes suffer heavy blow on Day 1 of BLAST Premier Fall Finals
One of Heroic or Astralis will miss the Royal Arena after they both suffered defeats on the first day of action in Copenhagen.
The dream of seeing a Heroic vs Astralis battle in the Royal Arena was shut down last night at BLAST Premier Fall Finals. Both teams lost in the opening round of Group B, and will now face each other in an early elimination today.
The most disappointing was the loss for Astralis. After the Danes had lost their own map pick, they went 12-2 up on Overpass but somehow managed to lose 14 rounds in a row to lose the map and series in overtime. It was the T-side that gave Astralis a headache on Overpass. In the last round at 12-11, they finally managed to get a plant in a 2vs2 situation with their two star players blameF, and device still alive. But in the end, it was Complexity's in-game leader Johnny 'JT' Theodosiou, that secured overtime and eventually the victory. The South African played a stellar map.
Heroic without both Martin "stavn" Lund and Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard could not handle the pressure from Team Vitality and lost 13-6, 13-9. The two Danish lineups face each other today at 16.00 (CET), where the loser is out of the tournament.
In Group A it will be either Ninjas in Pyjamas or NAVI that is sent home early, after the two rosters lost their opening matches in Copenhagen.
