G2 overcomes heavy Rain and advance to Semi-finals
FaZe’s run in IEM Beijing ended in the hands of their former teammate NiKo.
The anticipated match between G2 and FaZe delivered a big brawl between the two rosters and brought the best out of several players.
On Dust2 it was Rain and FaZe who started best. The Norwegian dominated the server on their CT-side. With 24-5 in k/d-ratio he was aiming at a career-best performance on Dust2.
Down 5-11 G2 managed to fight their way back. They called upon the service of the Bosnian hitman, NiKo, who did the dirty work against his old teammates. At the same time kennyS showed up in big style and suddenly G2 ran away with Dust2 after overtime. A bitter loss to a well playing FaZe team.
Mirage was next up. On FaZe’s map pick, it was kennyS, who was slaying his opponents with his sniper-riffle. A friendly reminder of the Frenchman’s incredible talent, which has been under pressure due to a dip in form during 2020. He ended with a 26-12 k/d-score on the map.
FaZe simply had no response. The loss on Dust2 seemed to carry over to Mirage, and the talented roster could not find the answers. G2 are now ready for the Semi-finals on Saturday, where they will face either Astralis or Natus Vincere.
