G2 head coach: NiKo will not be IGL
The Bosnian superstar is going to hold a more free role on the French side.
Damian “maLeK” Marcel head coach on G2, confirms in an interview with Dexerto that their new signing Nikola “NiKo” Kovac won’t be in-game leader, even though the Bosnian held the IGL role on FaZe. maLeK explains that he has a good relationship with nexa and how he will continue to be the IGL.
“NiKo will not be in-game leader here and we don’t have a plan at all to have him as IGL. I have a good relationship with nexa about how we work together”

maLeK further explains that he thinks that NiKo will shine without his IGL role, and therefore can focus more on other aspects in this freer role. However, the French coach clarifies that NiKo still is someone who is going to be a very vocal player and someone who is involved in mid-round calling and decision-making owing to his huge experience.
“I think he’s very happy to go back to a more playing role, and we will make sure that we use him as best as we can”
The coach of G2 also confirms that they won’t follow Astralis and their countrymen Vitality in having a six-man roster. maLeK says that they will use the rest of the year to practise and test different roster combinations to find the best possible option.
“This is not a six-man roster, but we still stay six until winter break. We will try out different combinations, because we really would like to see the best synergy on the field and what works best for our system to have the best results possible”
