G2 goes undefeated in Group A
An intense thriller between G2 and NiP concluded with G2 as the victors of Group A
A great day of professional tier-one CS:GO concludes with only two teams left in Group A of the BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2022 event. With Complexity and BIG out of the question, the winner was to be found between the new-look G2 roster and a NiP side that is currently missing their star player in “device”. Earlier today the two rosters locked horns on Inferno, and it was clear that G2 were the better roster, however, with the Group A Final still being played in the Bo1-series format anything can happen. To find the victor of Group A and the first day of the BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2022 event, the two teams headed to Mirage to begin the brawl.
Mirage, known for being an open and very explosive map with plenty of options for individuals to prove themselves, seemed the perfect decider between NiP and G2. With NiP missing their star player in “device” and G2 having just added the young prodigy “m0NESY”, it seemed a daunting task for the Scandinavians to overcome the firepower of G2. It was also G2 to start the strongest on their T-side of Mirage, stringing together a 5-0 lead. The early success of G2, however, was quickly silenced by a NiP roster finding their confidence. Picking up momentum, the Scandinavians put up a solid CT-sided defense and won the first half of Mirage at the scoreline of 9-6.
The second half brought more confident and aggressive play from the Ninjas in Pyjamas. Left stunned, it seemed as if nothing G2 did to stop the T-sided NiP players were working. This, however, was only until G2 finally shifted gears and began slowly clawing themselves back round after round. After winning seven consecutive rounds it was G2 to accomplish a phenomenal comeback and force overtime on Mirage. Exchanging rounds back and forth, second overtime was needed to find the victor between NiP and G2. After a long and hard-fought battle, it was ultimately G2 to prove more resistant. G2 claimed victory on Mirage at 22-19 and closed out the first day of BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2022 with a victory in Group A.
