G2 advance to semi-finals of PGL Major Stockholm
NiKo and company will face Heroic in the semi-finals.
The action got started on NiP’s map pick of Inferno, but it was G2 who kicked off the series on the right foot, racing to a 5-0 start. It seemed like NiP weren't ready and warmed up, as they looked shocked by G2's aggressive and secure CT-sided performance. Before they could realize, what had happened, NiKo and company had already gained a 12-3 lead. NiP began to stabilize their defense to turn the tides for the Swedish side, and an ace from REZ kicked off a comeback effort for NIP, combining with a strong defense as they looked like an entirely revived team. However, it was too late as G2 could walk away with the first map of the series, 16-11.
The second map of the series was to be played on Mirage and was, of cause, picked by G2. It began with more of a back-and-forth between the two teams, an early set of rounds for NiP, but once again, Niko showed his x-factor, this time with an ace to swing momentum in his team's favor. Late in the half, NiP managed to stabilize their defense, but G2 ended up taking nine rounds in the first half. The second half saw NiP falter under the pressure. Despite winning the pistol round and converting, the Swedish squad was unable to create a comeback. With six rounds in a row, G2 climbed to match point, eventually secured themselves a spot in the Semi-finals of the PGL Major 2021
