FaZe turns bad start into win against G2
In true FaZe fashion, the star-studded roster won after going behind.
The Grand Finalist from BLAST Fall Finals in Copenhagen from FaZe was tasked with playing G2 in the first round of the Worlds Final in Abu Dhabi.
G2 surprised in the veto by picking Nuke which quickly seemed like a very good idea. A good first half on the T side was replaced by an even better one on the defense. In the second half, Nikola 'NiKo' Kovač went 17-4 in K-D to effectively deny any comeback attempts from FaZe. Notable was also the fine performance from Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, who plays the tournament in Abu Dhabi despite the tragic death of his father just two days ago.
G2 won Nuke 16-10 before moving on to Inferno. Again NiKo was dominating and played an excellent game on Inferno. The first half ended 8-7 in favor of FaZe, who ended up winning the map after overtime. G2 had the chance at 15-14 to close the game, but as usual, FaZe mastered the art of never giving up. In the end, it was the Baltic duo of ropz and broky who won FaZe the second map.
Ancient came as the decider. Unfortunately, the G2 energy and synergy seemed depleted. On their T side, they never got anything going losing 2-13. The frustrations were evident on G2 as they fell short on Ancient. One couldn't help thinking, that the match was lost on Inferno for G2, who until the last rounds of the second map looked like a team in the right direction.
FaZe won the match and plays Team Liquid tomorrow, while G2 faces Outsiders in an early elimination match.
