FaZe start IEM Grand Slam chase with victory in Katowice
In the opening round of Group A FaZe defeated Spirit.
The defending champions of IEM Katowice got off to a great start in Poland. Against Team Spirit FaZe almost looked invincible on the first map of Ancient. With Finn 'karrigan' Andersen topfragging, FaZe had everything under control and won Spirit’s map of choice 16-5.
It was a bit of a wake-up call for Team Spirit who looked much more composed on Nuke. Here Spirit challenged FaZe and won the first half 9-6. On their T side, however, the CIS team ran into troubles especially against Håvard "rain" Nygaard. The Norwegian was back on the server after the birth of his son and he was doing a lot of damage against Spirit. Despite a close ending to Nuke, FaZe still felt so much on top, that Finn 'karrigan' Andersen even tried to knife (and he failed) an opponent in the last round.
FaZe is ready for a monster clash in the upper semi-finals of Group A against G2. The two tournament favorites will battle each other tomorrow at 19.30 CET.
