FaZe and Astralis to playoffs at Roobet Cup, OG and Complexity eliminated
Two dramatic three-mappers kicked off the day at Roobet Cup!
The first two all-or-nothing matches of the day featured FaZe, OG, Astralis, and Complexity. A win meant a spot in the playoffs while a loss would result in elimination.
FaZe vs. OG
The deciding match of Group A stood between FaZe and OG. OG put up an amazing fight, but in the end, FaZe were a smidgen too strong.
The headline of the first map of Ancient was CT-side winstreaks, even after the changes to the map that should favor the terrorists. The OG squad started great with a 5-1 lead on the offense, but then the FaZe streak came in to play, and 'karrigan's troops took the last nine of the half. The FaZe boys immediately got the same treatment as OG's CT side was almost impenetrable, and 'NEOFRAG' and co. picked up Ancient after only suffering one round loss in the second half.
The second map of Mirage was not quite as streaky as Ancient, although FaZe did start by taking the first five rounds. The star-studded roster looked great teamwise, through the first fifteen rounds, as 'karrigan' smoothly guided them to a 9-6 half even despite 'flameZ's monstrous efforts to keep them down.
The second half did not bring any rest for OG as 'Twistzz' really turned on the heat. The Canadian sharpshooter went above and beyond to ensure that FaZe took a comfortable victory before going to the deciding map of the series.
The map to decide who goes to the playoffs and who goes out was Overpass. FaZe, coming off a good map, looked solid on the defense early on, but a stellar seven-round streak made the difference for OG who held a one-round lead at halftime.
After losing four in a row to start the last half of the series, FaZe put on an impressive display. The favorites went on a 9-1 series-ending run, and thus qualified for the playoffs.

Astralis vs. Complexity
On the b-stream, the final match of Group B saw Astralis take on Complexity. The Danes were the favorites to win the series and they managed to do exactly that, but only after dropping a map to their North American opponents.
The first map of the series, Inferno, was a complete slaughter. Complexity, whose most played map is Inferno, only won five rounds on the map, two of which were the second half pistol round and the following conversion. Astralis were better individually, and the best team on the server for the first 21 rounds.
After the enormous win on Inferno, it looked like it would surely be a 2-0 for Astralis, and it might have been if it were not for 'floppy'. The American, who has struggled a bit recently due to food poisoning, looked completely recovered on the CT side of Overpass. The American excellent performance meant that Complexity had a five-round lead at halftime.
Astralis looked better on the defense, as they always do, but as 'Grim' decided to join 'floppy' at the top of the scoreboard, there was nothing the Danes could do to stop Complexity from pushing the series to a decider.
Astralis looked excellent at the start of the deciding map of Nuke. Especially frontman 'gla1ve' was impressive, as he was doing everything for his team early on. After the slow start from the North Americans, 'junior' managed to step up and make sure that the Complexity squad got seven rounds before switching sides.
With the lead before switching to the CT side, Astralis did not encounter too much trouble in closing out the map as they played an almost spotless CT side that sent Complexity out of the tournament.
