cadiaN on Heroic comradeship: It makes us able to reach whatever goal we want
The Heroic captain and IGL opens up about the unity and spirit inside the roster and how they managed to go unbeaten through the groups.
One of the strongest displays in the group stage at ESL Pro League Season 14, was the strong Danes from Heroic and their impressive run at Group A. Casper “cadiaN” Møller and his troops managed to go unbeaten throughout all five games, taking down tough opponents like Astralis, Vitality and Spirit.
In an ESL press conference held before the playoffs, we spoke with cadiaN about their impressive showing and how they managed to bounce back from their rather disappointing results at IEM Cologne and IEM Summer.
- I think the way we handled the days prior to the tournament was close to perfect. We made sure that our surroundings were set, and we moved into our new location which is way better than the old one. We also fixed a lot in-game things, to make sure that we were focussing on getting people individual in shape again because we have a very hard-hitting team.
Despite the outstanding form by the Heroic squad, there’s something much more troublesome going on outside of the server, which is taking up a lot of attention from the entire CS:GO world - The so-called HUNDEN gate.
The situation between HUNDEN and Heroic is clearly damaging for every party, where Rene “TeSeS” Madsen recently said that “it's tough. There’s a lot of hate going on right now”. In the same press conference, cadiaN opened up and spoke about the unity and spirit inside the Heroic roster.
- The mood on the team has been unreal. I don’t think I ever have experienced such comradery on a team before, and I think that’s going to make us able to reach whatever goal we want.
I have seen other teams with internal discussions between the players and so on. Maybe there’s outside noise, but I can assure you that I never have been on a team with fewer problems than this one, cadiaN explains.

Heroic will begin their playoff campaign at ESL Pro League on Friday when they take on Liquid in the quarter-finals. The match is set to begin at 19.15 (CET).
