The American superheroes take down Heroic
Liquid kick off IEM Global Challenge with a win by defeating Heroic 2-0.
The Danes from Heroic are not in the same form as they were previously this year. Today, they lose yet again to a dominant Liquid side.
Heroic kicked off Inferno in brilliant fashion, even though, Inferno being a map where the Danes have struggled recent months. Heroic established quickly an 8-3 lead through a masterclass performance by the dangerous duo of Rene “TeSeS” Madsen and Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen. Liquid, however, managed to stop the bleeding by cutting down Heroic’s lead to 8-7 going into the second half.
Liquid continued their strong form on the CT-side and secured the map 16-11 win by strong holds on the bombsites and only giving up one plant in the entire second half.
The second map on Nuke started out like the Inferno, with an 8-7 halftime lead for Heroic. But yet again, did Liquid manage to come back and seal the map. Jake “Stewie2K” Yip had an amazing map, putting up 27 kills and an immense 1.58 rating. The newly appointed IGL carried his team to a 16-14 on the second map, meaning that Liquid will meet NAVI in the winner match of Group B.
