Will NAVI win the Intel Grand Slam title?
The title win in Cologne pushes s1mple and company to the top of IGS Season 3 rankings.
Last month, NAVI defeated NiKo’s G2 in the Grand final of IEM Cologne with a clean 3-0 result. The title victory sees the Russian squad move within reach of winning the Intel Grand Slam Season 3, as they currently sit on top of the rankings with three trophies to their name. NAVI’s CIS rivals from Gambit are the closest team to s1mple and company, sitting on second place with two title victories.
If NAVI manages to stay on top of the rankings, they will receive a $1.000.000 prize for proving to be the most dominant team at the highest level of CS:GO. The IGS prize has previously been won by Astralis in 2018 and Liquid in 2019.
The Russian squad has the opportunity to close out the Intel Grand Slam battle after the player break, with ESL Pro League Season 14 coming up in August. However, even if NAVI doesn’t claim the title, they will have two more shots at IEM Fall and IEM Winter. The IGS competition will continue in 2022 if no team manages to win the prize this year.
A $100.000 spoiler bonus will be given out to the team that can stop NAVI from winning the Intel Grand Slam by beating them in a Grand final.
