NAVI win first Esports World Cup
The Copenhagen Major Champions took home $400,000 in Saudi Arabia.
The inaugural Esports World Cup concluded with a triumphant victory for Aleksi 'Aleksib' Virolainen and his team, Natus Vincere (NAVI). The Ukrainian esports organization secured a 2-1 win against G2 in the Grand Final of the 2024 Esports World Cup.
In Sunday's final, G2 initially took the lead by winning the first map, Ancient. However, NAVI dominated the next two maps, Nuke and Inferno, with identical 13-6 scores. Valeriy 'b1t' Vakhovskiy was named the tournament MVP, delivering an outstanding performance in the Grand Final. His 19-9 kill-death ratio on the decider map, Inferno, was crucial in sealing the victory for NAVI.
For G2, the Grand Final was a disappointing end to an otherwise promising run. The new roster had previously defeated Virtus.pro, Spirit, and The MongolZ in Saudi Arabia before facing NAVI.
