A 3-0 sweep of G2 in the Grand final of the prominent IEM Cologne event, saw NAVI take home the trophy and $400.000 in prize earnings. The Russian squad claimed the first international LAN title of 2021, adding the trophy to the BLAST Premier Global Final, DreamHack Masters Spring, and StarLadder CIS RMR prizes that they won online earlier this year.
“It was nice, but the emotions were not as strong as if we were playing on stage. We still need to work on a lot of stuff. Our goal was to win back-to-back tournaments, and we managed to do it. We won the CIS RMR, and now we won IEM Cologne. Today we didn’t play like we can play. Maybe we showed some nerves.” s1mple said after the match.
But as you can imagine, all those nerves disappeared when s1mple and company secured the last remaining round on Nuke and went on to celebrate their title victory with champagne.
