MOUZ Defeats Vitality in a Thrilling Quarter-Final
MOUZ secured a 2-1 victory over reigning champions Vitality in the IEM Rio 2024 quarter-finals, advancing to face FURIA in the semi-finals. Despite Vitality’s strong start on Mirage, where Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut led with an 18-2 score, MOUZ bounced back with decisive performances on Nuke and Inferno. Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo’s key plays, including crucial frags in a B-site retake, sealed the series for MOUZ. Vitality, plagued by mistakes and inconsistency, now shifts their focus to the BLAST Premier World Final.
Natus Vincere Defeats Virtus.pro to Secure Semi-Final Spot
Natus Vincere (NAVI) dominated Virtus.pro 2-0 in their quarter-final matchup, with standout performances from Mihai "iM" Ivan and Justinas "jL" Lekavicius. NAVI capitalized on a tactical veto advantage, with Virtus.pro picking Inferno despite their lack of recent success on the map. iM’s multi-kills and a 1v3 clutch on Inferno helped NAVI secure a commanding 13-4 win. On Ancient, jL’s clutch performances led NAVI to a narrow 13-11 victory, advancing them to face world No. 1, HEROIC, in the semi-finals.
