NiKo on important G2 member: He was definitely the type we missed the most
The Bosnian superstar took his time to speak with the broadcast after dismantling Movistar Riders.
Before Justin “jks” Savage joined G2 in August last year, the European team had not lifted a trophy since 2019 despite having brought in the likes of Nikola “NiKo” Kovac and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov.
Now seven months later, G2 sits safely on top of the world ranking with two massive tournament victories at BLAST Premier World Final and IEM Katowice having racked up more than $1 million dollar in prize earnings.
The importance of jks and his arrival has also been acknowledged by his G2 teammates with NiKo handing out some heavy praise towards jks in a post-match interview at ESL Pro League yesterday.
- We knew what we would get from jks [when he signed] and we knew what we were missing. He was definitely the type of player we missed the most. He’s a very stable player, a very good anchor who you always can rely on, NiKo said and started to praise jks’ current form:
- He just needed some time to get comfortable in the team and now he’s doing better and better. Ever since Abu Dhabi [BLAST Premier World Final], his numbers have been growing. jks has always been a good player… I just feel like he hasn’t been set in the right place ever since he left 100 Thieves. But I think now he’s getting back to his peak level from when he was at 100 Thieves.
Working harder than ever
In the chat following G2’s dominant playoff win over Movistar Riders, NiKo also touched on the great success they are having, where he especially highlights a strong work ethic within this current roster.
- This lineup is working much harder than any of my past rosters throughout my entire career. And it feels good to finally achieve this, but I don’t want to get too ahead of myself. We are just starting something good, but there are still a lot of things to accomplish before I can say “yeah this is the G2 era”.
- We are very humble when we are playing and we are working very smartly as well, so it’s going really well so far.
