NAVI eliminates Heroic from BLAST World Finals
Natus Vincere took the first step to make a run through the lower bracket with a win.
Heroic will finish 2021 on a low. The Danes were Wednesday night eliminated from BLAST World Finals without winning a single map, which was also the case at IEM Winter last week.
Like yesterday, Heroic was without Martin "stavn" Lund and had to play with Johannes "b0RUP" Borup as a stand-in. The current MAD Lions player had a hard time making a difference under the difficult circumstances.
It was especially on Mirage, that NAVI quickly made it clear, that yesterday's fluke against Team Liquid would not be repeated. Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and Denis 'electronic' Sharipov formed a dangerous tag-team and blew Heroic out of the server. A 12-3 lead at the break was converted to a 16-6 win without NAVI breaking a sweat.
NAVI picked Nuke as the second map. Here Denis 'electronic' Sharipov continued his dominance in the first half. But then Heroic showed, why they made it all the way to the Semi-Finals at the Stockholm Major. A strong T-side saw the Danes fight their way back into the match. At 15-14 Heroic actually had an excellent opportunity to steal NAVI's map pick, but failed to convert the opportunity.
And you don't get many opportunities against a team like NAVI. In the overtime, the world's number one closed out the game with four straight round wins to eliminate Heroic.
NAVI will continue their run in the lower bracket, where they will face either Vitality or G2.
