NAVI defeat FaZe 2-1 in a three map thriller
NAVI qualifies for BLAST Premier Spring Final 2021
A spot at the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2021 event was at stake when NAVI and FaZe began their battle of the Upper-bracket final in Group C of BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2021. Despite FaZe’s new signing in “Twistzz” showcasing his impressive individual capabilities they couldn’t manage to fend off the pressure of NAVI and “s1mple” and ultimately, they lost 2-1 to the Russians of NAVI.
The map veto from FaZe was to many people a surprise, as NAVI managed to get both Nuke and Train in the BO3-series. However, the first map was set to take place on FaZe’s map pick of Inferno. With “electronic” playing his role as the team’s pit-player to perfection as well as the young “B1T” performing extremely well, they managed to sweep FaZe off their feet and take map one with a 16-8 scoreline on Inferno.
The second map was NAVI’s own map pick, which of course meant Nuke. In the past three months, NAVI has a win-rate of 84.6% on the map with 11 wins and only 2 losses. The map against FaZe, however, was a different story. FaZe seemed even more eager to win after the loss on Inferno and due to a strong CT-side, they were able to close out map two on Nuke with a scoreline of 16-11 favoring the FaZe roster.
The last map was to be played on Train and would be the decider of this exciting BO3-series between two of the biggest rosters in CS:GO. Going into Train it was unclear what to expect from the series, as FaZe isn’t known for playing the map and definitely not with their newly shaped roster. It quickly became clear, however, that both teams were more than capable of competing at the highest level on Train. Going toe to toe the two rosters exchanged rounds, refusing to give their opponents an inch.
Despite an impressive performance from "Twistzz" racking up 36 kills in regulation time the series ultimately went to overtime. A FaZe roster with their new star player "Twistzz" managing 44 kills, unfortunately, didn't have what it takes to close down NAVI and they would have to see themselves defeated 19-17 in overtime.
With the 2-1 victory, NAVI has now qualified for the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2021 event, whereas FaZe will have to defeat either Liquid or MIBR in order to advance to the Group Final of Group C.
