NaVi crowned champions of the DreamHack Masters!
Fantastic team performance by NaVi secured them the surprising victory in the DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 against Gambit.
The first map in the grand finale on Overpass was dominated from the start by NaVi.
After a fantastic start by s1mple´s troops, they concurred the first eight rounds and they seemed unstoppable. Especially the big star s1mple played fantastic on Natus Vincere and the legendary AWPer didn’t give Gambit a chance to come back on the map.
Gambit couldn’t get their plays to work, and it didn’t help them that one of the best players form-wise sh1ro couldn’t find any opponents with his AWP.
The Russian sh1ro ended up playing one of his worst maps in his career at Overpass with an ADR on 27.1.
NaVi cruise controlled their way to the win on Overpass with 16-7 on a map where Gambit was big favorites.
NaVi continued their momentum on Dust2 and with s1mple in top form, they seemed untouchable after the first half on the legendary map.
And the momentum continued for s1mple and his right hand, Russian electronic stepped up his game to help Natus Vincere lead 12-3 after the first half of Dust2.
But after the half Gambit seemed to have found a new gear, after a very bad beginning from the strong roster, and we began to see some glimpse of what we could expect from Gambit after their fantastic form in 2021.
They ended up winning 9-4 in the second half but it wasn’t enough for the young roster and they ended up losing the second map 16-12.
After some glimpses of the “normal” Gambit, the hopes of a comeback became bigger, but they couldn’t come back from the bad start.
Gambit got themselves a fantastic start on the rails, where they won the first half 9-6 as the T side, with Hobbit as the key player. And as we know there is a bigger possibility of winning rounds as the CT side on Train, so Gambit had a big chance of winning the map.
But s1mple´s right-hand electronic wanted it otherwise, and with a fantastic second half on Train electronic cemented NaVi as the champions.
NaVi ended up winning the second half 10-3 as the T side, clear domination by Natus Vincere who dominated Gambit in the Grand Finale.
The fantastic map on Train for electronic made him the final MVP after fantastic performances by the Ukrainian duo s1mple and B1T.
