Gambit batter Entropiq at Funspark ULTI Finals
The youngsters remain undefeated at the big event after confident wins on Dust2 and Overpass.
Gambit is through to the next round in the upper bracket at Funspark Finals 2021 after defeating Entropiq 2-1. The result means that Entropiq will have to meet Astralis in the dangerous elimination bracket.
With Dust2 being Entropiq’s least favourable and successful map in their map pool, Gambit surely looked to punish their countrymen by picking the iconic map to kick off the match. And that was exactly what Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov and Gambit did today.
The #2 team in the world completely ran over Entropiq on the first map through a solid T side, where they set the score at 10-5 before the switch. In the following half, they stepped on the gas even more, ripping Entropiq apart by sealing the map after six consecutive rounds – led by sh1ro and his 2.55 Rating.
After the 16-5 demolition on Dust2, we saw the series continue on Mirage.
Here Entropiq began to show a better fight as they got things under control through some great calls by in-game leader Aleksey "NickelBack" Trofimov. Despite going up 9-6 and also 12-9, it looked the underdogs couldn’t finish off Gambit, who slowly crawled their way back. However, after a great ending in regulation, El1an and company did the job and secured the 16-14 win, sending the match to a third deciding map.
The final map ended up being a true replica of Dust2 with Entropiq being completely wiped off the server by a dominant Gambit side. An outstanding defense on the CT side could see Gambit go up 12-3, in a half where Entropiq struggled hard to find solutions against nafany’s well-thought strategies.
In the end, Gambit closed out the Russian head-to-head battle by winning Overpass 16-6 and are now just one step away from the Grand Final at Funspark Ulti 2021.
