Na'Vi are your BLAST Premier World Final 2021 winners!
Gambit were not able to stop the forces of The #1 team in the world.
The stage was the Grand Final of BLAST Premier World Final 2021. The last series of the year. The two best teams of 2021, and it took three great maps before we were able to crown Na'Vi the winner.
With the first pick of the finals, Na’Vi chose to play Mirage. At PGL Major Stockholm where these two CIS giants last faced off, they also did so on Mirage resulting in a clinic by Na’Vi, who took the map at 16-3.
From the get-go, Gambit looked ready to take down the #1 team in the world, a mission that would be very hard considering that Mirage has been a very 50-50 map for Gambit. Led by IGL “nafany” and veteran “Hobbit” the young guns were able to take the first half 9-6, a lead that could have been even bigger if they had not faltered versus some of Na’Vi’s half-buys.
Na’Vi almost even the score after taking the first two rounds in the second half, but that’s when “Ax1Le” caught fire, and Gambit went on a run to make it 14-8. The Na’Vi squad fought back hard and made the comeback look possible, but it was not to be as Gambit gunned themselves to a map victory of 16-11 on their opponents’ map pick.
As the second map Gambit picked Ancient, a map that we had not seen played a single time throughout BLAST Premier World Final prior to the Grand Final.
The first half started with Na’Vi getting a strong foothold in the game going up 8-3. Gambit were not deterred even though the stars of Na’Vi were shining bright and managed to take six rounds before switching to the preferable CT-side.
Na’Vi continued their momentum from the first half and took the first three rounds of the second to bring the score to 12-6, a scary sight for the young core of Gambit. But there was no fear to be spotted in the eyes of Gambit who slowly, but surely, crept closer and closer to tying up the score.
The comeback was not to be though, as Na’Vi were determined to take it to a third map, and they ended the map with a victory of 16-11.
The third and final map was the classic decider Inferno, where Na’Vi started as the CTs, while Gambit had to pose as the terrorists.
Na’Vi got off to a great start. Powered by a sublime showing from and always agile “s1mple”, they were able to take a commanding lead of 6-1. Gambit fought back impressively, but no matter how well they executed a play, Na’Vi’s reaction was just always a tiny bit better. This led to an 11-4 lead for Na’Vi at the break.
Na’Vi continued their dominance extending their lead to 15-5, thus having ten chances to close out the map. They did not need all ten but only two, as they were able to convincingly take Inferno 16-6.
Na'Vi and all of their players can therefore call themselves champions of BLAST Premier World Final 2021.
