Maniac on G2: I don’t know if they would stick together if they’re eliminated early
The Swiss analyst has doubts about the longevity of the current G2 roster.
Before G2's match against Fluxo, we spoke with Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez about the struggling team, which has already seen its fair share of roster moves in 2022 alone.
- They need to find some success and some sort of confirmation that what they are doing is working. I don't know if these five will stick together if they are eliminated immediately here in Copenhagen. Of course, I am not in any position to make any decision for them, but the situation would be dire, the former CS:GO player explained Pley.gg.
G2 lost their opening match at BLAST Fall Finals in a match against Team Liquid, where star player Nikola "NiKo" Kovač was the highest-rated player for G2 at 1.02. Not the start that the star-studded roster wanted after a month of preparation for the event.
- I still think that their playstyle and ideology rely heavily on individuals doing what they have to do. That has its plusses and minuses. When you have people like m0NESY and NiKo popping off, then Counter-Strike is much easier. When they don't they are in difficulties, I think. G2 hasn't shown us yet, that they can rely on a couple of great principles and strategies to help their players get into the groove. That is the issue for me.
