Heroic wins Scandinavian brawl against Swedish Ninjas
Today’s second Denmark vs Sweden match ended with a victory for Heroic.
Heroic continued their run at IEM Beijing-Haidian defeating Ninja in Pyjamas in the upper bracket semifinal of group B. Heroic has now qualified for the playoffs.
It all started on Mirage, where NiP quickly took control of the map. After half time they won six rounds in a row on their CT-side. Leading with 14-7 it would take a miracle for the current number 2 in the world to make a comeback. And though the Danes tried their best, the map was sealed for NiP with both Hampus and nawwk making superb performances.
On Heroic’s map pick, Train the roles were switched. The Danes started strongly and took their T-side with 10-5. The Danes coasted the second half and won easily with 16-6.
The last map was Vertigo. A map that Heroic has played 19 times in the last three months. It was also the Danes, that started best. Quickly the Danish Heroes was ahead with 8-1, and the Swedes seemed a bit shellshocked.
The Ninjas did come close to a comeback but the attempt died in the hands of Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen, who made 26 kills during the 29 rounds on Vertigo. Heroic is through to the playoffs at IEM Beijing-Haidian, while NiP will have to defeat the winner of ENCE vs BIG for a chance at the playoffs.
