Gambit takes down EG after two hard fought maps
We got the expected victory for the World's #1, but it did not come easy.
Gambit continues their impressive 2021 with another first-round victory.
At BLAST Premier Spring Finals, the top-ranked team in the world was paired with Evil Geniuses in the first round. The North Americans have had a turbulent year so far, but have had a strange ability to show up against the top-tier opponents.
Today was no different. EG picked Inferno as the first battleground of the day. Here they managed to keep up with the Russians. Both teams won their T-side 8-7, which meant OT. But after a valiant attempt, Evil Geniuses could not stand the test and lost narrowly after two OTs.
A tough defeat for the NA team.
But on Dust2 they quickly brushed off the loss and got a flying start. A 6-0 lead was almost too good to be true, and slowly Gambit started to quell the rising rebellion against their dominance. From 6-9 down at the break, in-game leader nafany took matters into his own hands, and lead his men back into the match.
Evil Geniuses was only allowed two rounds in the second half, where Gambit came alive and ended any hope of an upset.
