Gambit claims the first title of 2021
The Russian team won Vulkan Fight Series.
They were the big favorites beforehand, and the Russian team did not disappoint. In the Final against the Czech team Sinners, Gambit won 2-0.
But the match was much more even than first expected.
On Vertigo the Russians narrowly took home their map pick with a 16-13 win. A well playing "sh1ro" was one of the main factors, that the map swung Gambits way.
On Inferno, Sinners showed some promising signs for the future. Currently ranked as number 65 in the world, the Czechs were a bit of a blank page before the tournament, but with the experience from Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný, they proved to be a problem for Gambit.
Sinners took the lead at halftime 8-7. On their CT-side they started well and was ahead 12-9 before Timofey "interz" Yakushin stole the show!
The amazing ace paved the way for the Russians who won the map, match and tournament with a 16-14 win on Inferno.
The Russians take home $22.500 in first prize.
