22-year-old Timofey "interz" Yakushin has announced his departure from Cloud9 through Twitter. The young Russian saw himself getting moved to the beach after poor results during the later stages of 2022. Shortly after interz was moved to the bench, Cloud9 saw their chance to bring in Timur "buster" Tulepov. 

The last time interz played with his former teammates was back at the IEM Rio Major when they managed to take down the likes of Natus Vincere and FaZe on their way to the quarter-final but fell short against MOUZ on the big stage. Despite a decent tournament for the youngsters, the team and the organization decided to drop interz down to the inactive roster to seek better options on the market. Timofey "interz" Yakushin was averaging 0.90 Rating / 54.5 ADR / 0.45 KPR / 0.53 Impact during the IEM Rio Major. With such low stats to his name, Cloud9 was hoping to find a better replacement for the upcoming 2023 season.

Since the arrival of buster, Cloud9 fans were hyped to see a new man step in for action. However, to start his time in Cloud9, the team fell short against Natus Vincere and IHC during the IEM Katowice 2023. A disappointing result that left their fans with doubt about interz's departure. But, the doubt only lasted three weeks as Cloud9 dominated G2 and Outsiders in the ESL Pro League Season 17 and is currently on a seven-match winning streak.

Regardless of what the future holds for interz. For now, fans of interz will have to wait and see what comes next. The Russian is a free agent and available for new options.

When Cloud9 last month announced the acquisition of Timur “buster” Tulepov as a replacement for the loyal support player Timofey "interz" Yakushin, some experts and fans within the industry questioned that exact move.

Did they just use interz as a scapegoat? Won’t buster just the same impact and style to the table as interz? Was just some of the questions being asked.

But if you ask Cloud9’s in-game leader and long-standing captain Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov this move will play a “huge difference” going forward, the Russian explained in an interview with ESL.

- Overall, I think this result is okay with us having a new player, nafany said. We didn’t prepare everything that we wanted and it’s a bit different game right now with a new player as well – I would say not even “a bit”, it’s a huge difference Cloud9 with interz and Cloud9 with buster.

- I think it’s obvious with buster that we now have more space to create new things. We can switch on a lot of maps – we have done it already. I know everything will be fine in the future.

In the interview, nafany elaborates by going more in depth when comparing interz with buster.

- I will say the main difference is that interz is a guy who’s doing his work and was doing a great job. But buster is a player who brings us fresh air and he can fix some gaps on some maps for us. So, it was necessary to change players because we have played in the previous roster for two and half years, which is very long time.

- We have some struggles in teamspeak. It’s not even because of buster, it’s more because of me, hobbit and sh1ro but I can’t say a lot about that because we still don’t really know how to use it perfectly, nafany concluded.

Yesterday Cloud9 secured themselves a spot at the prestigious IEM Katowice main event after a strong performance on the first day at the play-in stage. Beating IHC 16-5 and afterwards ENCE 2-1 in a decider match was ultimately enough to send them through to the $1 Million event.

During the interview, Ax1Le stated that the coach and management made the decision to replace interz and that they took part in the selection process during try-outs. He expressed sadness about losing a good friend in interz and added that he still keeps in touch with him.

“Basically, the coach and management come to the decision to replace the player. We took part in the selection of players during the try-outs. After losing the major, there was a little depression: I understood that most likely someone would be replaced. Timofey is a very good person, I still keep in touch with him, we have a lot of local memes. It was sad to say goodbye to him.”

Despite the disappointment, Ax1Le expressed confidence in interz's future and believes that he will be back at the tier-1 CS in a short time. He mentioned that interz is currently playing FACEIT and keeping his skills sharp. He concluded by saying that there will always be someone who needs a player like interz and that he's sure that interz will not disappear.

“I believe interz will be back at the Tier-1 Counter-Strike in a short time. He’s playing FACEIT now, keeping his shape. There is always someone who needs such players. In the near future, he may well be called somewhere. I’m sure that he will not disappear.”

When asked if he believes that interz can return to the main roster, Ax1Le stated that it might happen if Cloud9's results are very bad, but he couldn't be sure.

With the loyal support player having presented the lowest numbers for the Russian squad over the last 12 months, interz may seem like the obvious choice to replace on the roster. However, that’s not the right decision if you ask CS:GO expert and caster Mohan "launders" Govindasamy.

- There’s a rumour that Cloud9 is cutting interz. I hate this … They are trying to scapegoat interz. The person responsible for this roster move is the person that couldn’t get them through that quarterfinal vs MOUZ [at IEM Rio Major] – and it’s as simple as that, launders says in a video on Twitter and continues:

- Ax1Le, Hobbit, and sh1ro are the strongest core in the game right now. Then there’s nafany who can frag, but nafany could frag well but still lose games as an IGL. I don’t think anyone is easy to replace in this team – in fact I don’t think they should make a move at all. I think they should just try to get better. What happened to that?

As the abovementioned statistics clearly show, interz is not the one who’s providing the kills and firepower on Cloud9. That is for the trio of sh1ro, Ax1Le and HObbit. But a statistic that’s rarely highlighted in CS:GO is the number of support rounds a player is having. Here interz is ranked as the best player in the game with a 28.2% score.

According to a [link:{"url":"https://www.hltv.org/news/35194/cloud9-to-replace-interz-forester-sanji-buster-among-candidates-report","isNewTab":true,"text":"report from HLTV"}], Timofey “interz” Yakushin is on the way out of Cloud9 and the organization already have some candidates ready to talk over his spot in the roster. This information was first made public by a well-known CIS leaker, Alexey “OverDrive” Birukov, who’s information now has been confirmed by multiple sources according to HLTV.

Cloud9 are yet to confirm the change, but reportedly the American organization already has a few players in mind that would fill out the gap left by 22-year-old interz. Sanjar “SANJI” Kuliev, Igor “Forester” Bezotecheskiy, and Timur “buster” Tulepov are all candidates.

It the change becomes reality, it would be the first shift in the roster since July 2020, when Abay “H0bbit” Khasenov came to the team.

A pure CIS derby was on the card in the opening round of Group B. Outsiders and Cloud9 went head to head on Dust2, where it was Ax1Le and sh1ro, who dominated hard. Jame and his teammates had no real answers to the dynamic duo and lost their own map pick 16-6.

The roles were reversed on the second map, where Outsiders took advantage of the CT meta and took an 11-4 lead with them to the second half. But then Cloud9 came back after winning the pistol round and made it all the way to 11-11 before the Outsiders finally found a round. For Cloud9 it was this time interz who spearheaded the roster with a fine performance.

In the end, it came down to a last-second defuse from Hobbit to secure the victory for Cloud9 who continues their LAN run from IEM Dallas. They will now face the winner of FURIA and Astralis in the next round.

Earlier this week, Cloud9 announced the organization's return to CS:GO with the acquisition of the Gambit roster. Gambit has reportedly been up for sale since March in the aftermath of Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Cloud9 shares that it would help the previously Russia-based lineup to relocate, whether North America is a possibility.

Now the organization has a serious title contender in the ranks once again and will be heading into the next Major as one of the top-three teams in the world.

The organization announced its new roster on Twitter a few minutes ago.

The now-former Gambit roster was looking for a new home after the international restrictions that were put upon the Russian Organization. Now the five CIS players will represent one of North America's most prolific e-sports organizations. 

Cloud9 disbanded its team roughly a year ago citing the ongoing pandemic as one of the biggest factors. Now the winner of the ELEAGUE Major in Boston is back and will be represented at the upcoming Major in Antwerp, where they will be seeded as Legends.

The five players will be joined by their coach Konstantin "groove" Pikiner as well.

The last semi-final spot was up for grabs when Vitality and Gambit clashed. This was anything but a classic match-up, as the teams have only faced each other in two series prior to this one. But one thing those two series had in common was that it was the Frenchmen to emerge victorious both times. This time was no different.

Vitality were the first to choose a map, and with that choice, they went the way of Dust2, a real classic when it comes to French CS.

It was the French side that got off to the best start as “misutaaa” led them to several round-wins with a flurry of impact frags coming out of the young Frenchman’s rifle. Gambit did manage five rounds in a row in the middle of the first half but were not able to do any more than that, and the halftime score was 10-5. 

The second half did not bring any more luck for the CIS squad as the French steam engine was not to be stopped on Dust2. Vitality took a convincing 16-5 win and put themselves ahead in the series.

For the second map, Gambit went to Vertigo, a map that they for a long time looked unbeatable on.

The map started perfectly for Gambit who comfortably put themselves ahead 6-0, led by a hot “Ax1Le”. This is when things started going a little bit awry for them, as they lost against the French who were armed with nothing but deagles. As a result, Vitality were able to make a small comeback in the half and bring themselves to halftime at 9-6 in favor of Gambit.

The second half saw Vitality even the score at 9-9, suddenly blowing the map wide-open. This was the last time we saw signs of life from the French, as Gambit started meticulously tearing them apart. Especially the Russian support player “interz” had an amazing performance on the CT-side, which allowed Gambit to take the map win 16-9.

To determine the fate of the match, the teams would have to show their very best on the third and final map, Mirage. Vitality started on the CT-side, which most teams prefer, while Gambit, of course, started as the terrorists.

The map had a bit of a clumsy start with a real force-buy war, where the teams just kept trading rounds. Finally, Vitality were able to string two rounds together and put Gambit on the backfoot. This trend continued throughout the first half, where the CIS squad couldn’t really find a way through the defense of the French. Vitality led by IGL “apEX”, and his superstar “ZywOo” kept the pressure up and went to halftime with 11 rounds to their name.

Gambit started the second half in a promising fashion. They had a long way to go to make the comeback a reality, but slowly they moved closer and closer to the Frenchmen. Unfortunately for the Gambit boys, it was still the French side that reached match point first at 15-12, but Gambit managed to stand their ground and pull it into overtime. In the end, it was the French squad that was able to pull it over the line in the closest fashion possible: 19-17.

The result means that Gambit is eliminated in 5th-6th, while Vitality moves on to the semi-final where they will face Virtus.pro.

Abay “Hobbit” Hasenov and his men from Gambit crashed out in the semi-finals of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 against NAVI who took home the trophy in the end of the tournament. Every player from Gambit, except for Hobbit, were competing in their first-ever CS:GO Major and yet managed to finish off the tournament on a 3rd – 4th place in Stockholm.

In a recent vlog released by Gambit, their 27-year-old IGL speaks about what the team lacked at the Major and most importantly the structure Gambit follows, and how they operate internally.

Their main AWPer, sh1ro, agrees with Hobbit’s statement in the vlog and says that Gambit is trying to find the right balance, believing that it has proven to be their key to success so far.

Not many would have thought that when Gambit decided to establish a new academy team under the name of 

 back in April 2019, that it would end up being the very best team in the world just two years after its creation.

However, that very thing became a reality this year when the former Gambit Youngsters quartet in Dmitry "⁠sh1ro⁠" Sokolov, Sergey "⁠Ax1Le⁠" Rykhtorov, Timofey "⁠interz⁠" Yakushin, and Vladislav "⁠nafany⁠" Gorshkov cemented their names in the CS:GO history books, alongside the experienced Abay “Hobbit” Khasenov.

The mastermind and architect behind the powerful and talented roster is the head coach, Ivan "F_1N" Kochugov. We have sat down with the CS:GO veteran to talk about how such a young and inexperienced roster could conquer the Counter-Strike throne and what it has meant for the team. 

- For me, It was just a matter of time. It required a lot of hard work and it also took a lot of time to make this roster, but that pays off now. We didn’t change our roster every month and stuff like that, so the guys have played together for more than two years, F_1N says to Pley.

It has been really tough for the roster because we did not take our vacation last year, so for the majority of the team, it has been almost two years with hard work and no vacation. In the future, we will try to not attend so many tier-1 events like this year.

Since the team was promoted to Gambit’s main team in October last year, nafany and company has played no more than 260 maps throughout a myriad of tournaments in a 330-day timespan.

For comparison, the other four teams on HLTV’s world ranking (NAVI, FaZe, Virtus.pro, and G2) has played an average of 194 maps in the exact same period.

Gambit’s next task will be at ESL Pro League Season 14, where the Russian youngsters will try to seal their fifth big title in 2021 when Group D starts tomorrow. Going into EPL F_1N gives an update on the current state of the team.

- I’m not sure which shape we are in at the moment because we have been on vacation and away from CS for almost a month. Now we are just trying to get back on track and in the same shape, and we are also working on some new things that we found out we had to fix.

Timofey "interz" Yakushin has been a part of the dominant Gambit side, which have taken the CS:GO world by storm in 2021 with the Russians having won several top-tier tournaments and racked up more than $1 Million in prize earnings, less than 12-months after being promoted as the org’s main team.

interz might not be the first player who comes to mind when you think of Gambit and their incredible and star-studded roster. Teammates like Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov, Sergey "Ax1Le" Rykhtorov, and Abay "Hobbit" Khassenov have all grabbed an MVP medal this year, which naturally has caused some recognition for the star trio.

However, behind their success and greats stats, there’s interz. A dedicated support player, who’s ready to sacrifice himself in the way of taking bullets for his fellow teammates, dropping weapons and setting up perfect utility.

IEM Katowice is Gambit's biggest triumph up till this date 

interz has represented the Gambit organization since May 2019 – first at Gambit Youngsters, which he joined together with sh1ro, Ax1Le and Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov, making the promising quartet that later on became the fundament and the strong pillar of one of the best teams in CS:GO.

The best individual event for interz was at DreamHack Masters Winter last year, posting an impressive 1.15 Rating against tough opponents in Astralis, Complexity and Cloud9.

Gambit’s next task will be at ESL Pro League Season 14, where the Russian youngsters will try to seal their fifth big title in 2021, after placing 2nd at the last EPL season in April. When asked about how confident Gambit is going into the event, interz stated the following.

Gambit are through to the upper semi-finals at IEM Summer following a dominant victory over the Germans from Sprout on Vertigo (16-6). The Russian youngsters are now ready to face off against Vitality today at 16:40 (CET) in an exciting matchup where a spot in the upper final is at stake, while Sprout will have to fight their way out of the lower bracket.

The world No. 1 team proved to be too hard of a task for Sprout, who got crushed as they couldn’t handle the Russian’s executes on Bomb-sites. Gambit’s interz topped the scoreboard with a 1.86 Rating and was on fire, delivering 24 frags to help his team to a good start at the tournament.

There was no doubt about today´s outcome before the game, but Akuma made the impossible possible after a great first map, they fought bravely, but Gambit ended up winning.

The first map was on Mirage, where Gambit got themselves a great start with 9-6 in the first half as the T side, and it seemed to be a walk in the park for the roster.

But Akuma had one outrageously good player today, Dmitriy “SENSEi” Shvorak played fantastic, and gave Akuma an opportunity at the map.

The unknown roster came back in the game and made it to overtime after a perfect performance as the T side, where especially SENSAi played fantastic.

They won the second half 9-6 as the T side as well.

Gambit ended up winning the overtime 10-8 which resulted in a victory for the big team 25-23 after a great fight by the unknown roster.

In the second map at Vertigo, Gambit outplayed Akuma as expected, a nearly perfect performance by the Russian side.

They were in front with 12-3 at half time, and the ending was just a formality.

They won the second half 4-1 and won the game 16-4.

The thing that we will remember from today´s game was SENSEi´s performance against a tier 1 team.

Gambit have improved immensely throughout the latest period of time. From being Gambit Youngsters to being the main team - a main team with the ability to take down the best of CS:GO rosters in the world. Gambit are currently ranked as the best team in the entire world, according to the official HLTV rankings. But how did they manage all this in such a short period of time? Well if you ask head coach "Groove" it is all to do with discipline, hard work, and desire to win. 

"The most important thing is discipline and another thing is desire. We have young players on board and none of them were experienced. Gambit Esports was their first E-sport club in their life. But since the beginning we have had a main goal, the first goal was top 30 in the world rankings, the second goal was top 20 in the rankings, etc. Whoever we play we always focus on the discipline part of the game."

Joining the exclusive club of teams to have been ranked number one in the world, at some point, is Gambit. With HLTV's new ranking update some shifts have been in the rankings. These shifts see Gambit enter the number sport, moving up two ranks, as well as Heroic taking third place after gaining an impressive 9 ranks due to their recent Grand Final victory. 

Gambit claiming the number one spot is well-earned and comes after months of great success, with them almost looking invisible. After reaching the Grand Final of ESL Pro League Season 13 and only narrowly being beaten by Heroic, they have finally managed to claim the title as the world's best team according to the official HLTV rankings.

They were the big favorites beforehand, and the Russian team did not disappoint. In the Final against the Czech team Sinners, Gambit won 2-0. 

But the match was much more even than first expected. 

On Vertigo the Russians narrowly took home their map pick with a 16-13 win. A well playing "sh1ro" was one of the main factors, that the map swung Gambits way.

On Inferno, Sinners showed some promising signs for the future. Currently ranked as number 65 in the world, the Czechs were a bit of a blank page before the tournament, but with the experience from Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný, they proved to be a problem for Gambit.

Sinners took the lead at halftime 8-7. On their CT-side they started well and was ahead 12-9 before Timofey "interz" Yakushin stole the show!

The amazing ace paved the way for the Russians who won the map, match and tournament with a 16-14 win on Inferno.

The Russians take home $22.500 in first prize.

Gambit has had a phenomenal 2020 season, presenting one strong performance after another, even though the organization have had to undergo a major generational change. The Russian team have clocked in no more than 8 titles (A-B tier events) throughout the year with the victory at DreamHack Open November as their peak performance. 

In the start of October, the historical team decided to promote their academy Gambit Youngsters to be the main team. Something, they haven’t regretted – Because, the youngsters quickly adapted into a fully-grown and potent CS:GO team, which were more than able to compete against the very elite.

After winning LOOT.BET Season 8 and Nine to Five 6, Gambit came into the tournament as heavy favourites and with tons of confidence. The Russian youngsters cruised through the event in dominant style, by only giving up one map throughout the entire campaign. It all culminated in the Grand Final against another strong CIS team in Spirit, where Gambit demonstrated their huge potential by smashing Spirit 16-2, 16-5, and 16-8. 

A tournament which cemented Dmitri “sh1ro” Sokolov as one of the most promising and exciting talents in the game of CS:GO. The 19-year old AWPer topped the rankings, presenting a stellar 1.38 rating throughout the event. 

Gambit holds a staggering 20.9 average player age, with only interz and Hobbit having reached their 20th birthday. Combined with their strong results in 2020, and their entry on the top of CS:GO, Gambit are facing a great and promising future. 

They have been invited for the prestigious play-in tournament, which will grand a spot at the important $1.000.000 prize pool event of IEM Katowice. A tournament, that features strong teams as mousesports, Liquid and Complexity, which means that Gambit’s powerful duo of sh1ro and Ax1Le have to bring their A-game.
