Gambit advance to the Grand Final!
Gambit win the CIS brawl 2-1 against NAVI
A spot in the Grand Final of the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2021 event was at stake when Gambit and NAVI locked horns in an intense CIS brawl. Not only was it a battle between two CIS giants, but it was also a battle between the number one ranked roster and the number two ranked roster in the entire world. Gambit proved to be the better roster on the day and managed to defeat Natus Vincere and “s1mple” with a 2-1 victory.
The first map took place on Dust2. The map was, of course, picked by Natus Vincere who have proven their capabilities on the map many times. Despite being one of their best maps it was no easy fight for Natus Vincere. With either team refusing to give their opponents an inch it was a close affair between the two rosters. Ultimately, however, it showed that Gambit had the slightest of an edge over NAVI and at the scoreline of 16-14 they managed to take home the map of Dust2.
The second map was chosen by Gambit and was set to take place on Ancient, the newest map in the current official CS:GO map pool. NAVI seemed eager to take the series to all three maps and put up a strong start to the map of Ancient. Despite going behind 5-1 in the early stages of the map Gambit managed to make it close at the scoreline of 9-6 at halftime. Natus Vincere started the second half even stronger than the first. At the scoreline of 16-7, they managed to defeat Gambit on Ancient and force a third and final map.
The third and final map was to be played on Mirage. Both teams, being more than capable on the map of Mirage, seemed eager to take home the victory. However, once the map had begun it became clear that one team was superior on Mirage. Gambit steamrolled NAVI in the early stages of the map and could go to halftime with an impressive 12-3 lead. The second half saw NAVI attempting a comeback. The comeback never became a reality despite a valid attempt and Gambit could see themselves advance to the Grand Final after a 16-7 victory on Mirage.
