G2 eliminates Astralis and qualifies for the playoffs at IEM Katowice
NiKo once again played insanely good to lead G2 to victory.
G2 is ready for the playoffs at Spodek Arena next week after defeating Astralis 2-1 in the lower bracket final.
The match started on Ancient, where Astralis managed to best G2. It was a game of "who makes the most out of their CT sides", which the Danes did best. A revitalized Kristian 'k0nfig' Wienecke dropped 30 kills to underline his resurgence from his two-month slump.
A 16-12 win for Astralis gave hope for a brawl in the remainder of the match, but after Ancient was done, the match shifted gear.
On both Dust2 and Inferno, it was one-way traffic with the incredible Nikola 'NiKo' Kovač in the driver's seat. The Bosnian simply destroyed Astralis throughout the match with opening kills, multi-kill rounds, and overall just an insane impact, that left the Danish roster without a chance. NiKo ended all three maps with a +100 ADR!
On Inferno, it got really bad for Astralis, who lost the morale and spirit after being annihilated 14-1 in the first half. The Danes are out of IEM Katowice after their worst appearance at the event ending their continuous playoff run since 2016.
G2 will face Virtus.pro in the Quarter-Final on Friday at IEM Katowice.
