G2 delivers in the quarter-final
G2 wins the DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 quarter-finals and advances into the semi-final.
The first map on the rails looked to be very compatible after the first half, where we had seen some great defense from Astralis as the CT side, but G2 was too strong as terrorist. After the first half, the score was 8-7 to G2, but as the CT side they demolished Astralis.
G2 won eight rounds in a row, where they outplayed Astralis, who won zero round as the T side on the rails.
On the second map on Nuke Astralis won 16-14, as they were the better CT side.
G2 was again leading 8-7 at halftime, the same result as after the first half of the first map.
But Astralis managed to pull themselves up and turn the round around, they became CT´s after halftime, and they managed to deliver some fantastic defense and ended up on top after the thirty rounds with 16 round wins.
With one map win each we needed a third map to find a winner, and G2 ended up stepping up when they needed to.
The legendary Vertigo, where you so easily can lose control of the A bombsite should be the decider, and G2 started as the t side. And Astralis couldn’t contain The Bosnian duo on the A bombsite, as they manage to get a 10-5 lead into halftime.
Astralis didn’t manage to find themselves a way back to make the game compatible and G2 went on to win 16-8 on the map.
