G2 avoids humilation at BLAST Premier Fall Showdown
The star-studded roster lost a map against the number 117 in the world.
Lynn Vision was one of the unknown entities at BLAST Premier Fall Showdown. The Chinese team had replaced ViCi Gaming at the tournament, who had opted to focus on the Asian RMR event. On the other side of the server, we had G2. The French/Balkan roster was so big favorites beforehand, that the odds of them winning was a solid 1.00!
The Chinese team picked Vertigo as the first map, where they managed to be competitive against G2 in the first half. A 9-6 lead at the break for G2 was expected, but then this happened.
A truly miraculous play from LiZhi "Starry" Ye shock the core of G2. Suddenly the Europeans began to make simple mistakes, that instantly got punished by Lynn Vision, who was a complete breath of fresh air. Out of nowhere Lynn Vision took control of the match and won sensationally 16-14 on Vertigo.
On Inferno G2 once again established a 9-6 lead. This time around NiKo and nexa managed to find the right solutions for G2 against the unorthodox opponents and won 16-10. And then the fun stopped. G2 smashed Lynn Vision 13-2 in the first half on Nuke without breaking a sweat. Lynn Vision came back in the second half and won some consolidation rounds, but in the end, it was G2 who showed, who the best team is. The Chinese team can leave the tournament with their heads held high. For a moment they managed to shake one of the best teams in the world. Not bad for "the replacements".
G2 will face the winner of Evil Geniuses and MAD Lions in the next round.
