G2 avoid upset in kennyS’ comeback victory
It came down to the wire for G2 in their match against TYLOO at IEM Winter.
G2 vs TYLOO at IEM Winter – a matchup between #3 and #39 on the world ranking. That may not look that interesting on paper, however, there is one specific individual who makes it way more exciting, and that’s Kenny “kennyS” Schrub. After a long period on the bench, the French legend has been subbed in on the G2 starting lineup, due to Nemanja “nexa” Isakovic having VISA issues.
It took three rounds on Mirage, where G2 went down 0-2 before the 26-year-old AWPer once again has his beloved sniper rifle in hands in an official match. After the rocky start, kennyS and company began to steamroll over the Chinese team who looked to have no answer to G2’s powerful double-AWP setup with NiKo and kennyS.
The French-Balkan mix had themselves a field trip in the first half, which in the end resulted in a confident 12-3 lead. However after the switch, TYLOO began to show some promising rounds on the CT-side through a solid defence. Despite an outstanding run of nine rounds in a row and managing to even the score at 12-12, G2 proved out too strong for the underdog team in the end, as G2 locked down the match 16-13.
