FaZe are your ESL Pro League Season 17 champions!
It was a tense battle at the ESL Pro League Season 17 finals, with FaZe and Cloud9 both bringing their A-game to the table. The Intel Grand Slam Season 4 has been all about FaZe Clan, who earlier took three big victories in the first part of 2022 to set themselves up for the $1 million prize pool and the title as Intel Grand Slam winners.
Only three teams have managed to complete the Intel Grand Slam and with FaZe taking down Cloud9 they join Astralis, Team Liquid, and NAVI on the list of legendary CS:GO teams.
The pressure was set when FaZe and Cloud9 started the Grand Final out on Overpass. The first map saw FaZe come out strong, taking control of the game from the outset. They were able to shut down Cloud9's defense with great execution on the B bomb site, thanks to their incredible team play. Despite the first map being a close encounter, FaZe clan was the team to come out on top with a score of 16-13. FaZe won Cloud9´s map pick Overpass to go up 1-0 in the Grand Final.
Moving on to Inferno. FaZe came out pressing the speeder once again. The Mixed European roster dominated Cloud9 on the CT side. With a 9-0 lead in favor of FaZe after just nine rounds, FaZe was quick to establish themselves as the leading team. Despite Cloud9 bouncing back towards the end. FaZe won the map 16-6. The Cloud9 rifler Ax1Le secured 25 kills to his name but saw his team with only 5 and 9 kills on the board across the whole map.
Cloud9 wasn't ready to give up just yet, however. They came back with a vengeance on the third map. It was a close game, with both teams fighting tooth and nail for every inch of the ground. But in the end, Cloud9 was able to edge out FaZe with a final score of 16-11 on Mirage.
Moving to the last map of the series, Ancient. FaZe came out winning their duels despite falling short on Mirage. A 6-2 lead in favor of FaZe quickly turned to a decent T side for Cloud9 who came back and got seven rounds on the weaker T side. With seven rounds on the T side, Cloud9 was looking to take the series into a third. However, with Twitzz playing lights out on the T side, FaZe won the map 16-11 and the series 3-1.
A thrilling series between the Russians and the Mixed Europeans saw FaZe win their fourth tournament in little over a year to secure themselves the intel Grand slam trophy as the fourth team to ever do it.
