FaZe take down Liquid in overtime thriller
Liquid were so close, but couldn't close it out
For the second match of the day, and their first match, we had the new FaZe, who has added a new star player in "ropz", and Liquid who have reintegrated their old IGL "nitr0" into the lineup, while also adding "shox" and "oSee" to their roster.
Once again the map choice fell upon the always-reliable decider of Inferno and had "karrigan" and co. starting as the terrorists, while Liquid took up the mantle as the defenders.
FaZe managed to get off to the best start as "ropz" and "rain" brought the North Americans to their knees with five beautiful kills in the afterplant. After a safe 3-0 start for the European squad, Liquid managed to start putting rounds of their own on the board and equalized the score at 3-3. The second part of the half was incredibly close, with several rounds that went right down to the wire, and no team was able to string more than three rounds together. The score at halftime was 9-6 in favor of FaZe, with "ropz" topping the scoreboard with 17 kills.
As fast as they could, Liquid equalized the score, after winning the pistol round, and denying two force-buy attempts from FaZe. Instead of stopping there, the North Americans pushed it even further and took a commanding lead of 12-9 before FaZe were able to take their first round of the second half, and follow it up by once again equalizing at 13-13 and 14-14. It was the North American team that managed to reach match point, but in style with how the map had gone so far, FaZe managed to put it into overtime.
After reaching overtime FaZe was finally able to take control on the CT-side as they swept the first half of OT not even allowing a bomb plant to Liquid. The story repeated itself in the second half as FaZe took four out of four rounds in overtime and secure their spot in the Upper Final.
