FaZe join G2 in Grand Final

The final Bo3-series before the Grand Final of IEM Katowice 2022 saw Heroic and FaZe lock horns in an intense Semi-Final. “cadiaN” and his troops would seek to prove to everyone that they have what it takes to go all the way on LAN, whereas “karrigan” and FaZe would seek to put their star-studded roster through a difficult test. Carrying on the theme from the Bo3-series between NaVi and G2 it was a battle of the AWP’ers. Both “cadiaN” and “broky” showed up from start to finish. Whilst the Danes put up a valid fight, it was ultimately not enough to get them past FaZe. Due to a masterclass in mid-round calling from “karrigan” as well as the sheer amount of talent amongst his players, it was FaZe to silence the passionate Danes and advance to the Grand Final against G2 with a 2-0 victory.

The first map of the Semi-Final was to be played on Inferno and was chosen by FaZe. Inferno is by far the most played map of FaZe in recent times and with a win-rate of 82% (11 games) in the past three months, it seemed as if Heroic had a difficult task at hand. Difficult it also proved to be for the Danes once the game got underway. Thanks to phenomenal mid-round calling from IGL “karrigan”, the FaZe boys build a 10-2 lead before being challenged by Heroic. At the halftime scoreline of 10-5, the Danish Heroic roster had everything to do on their T-sided half. Whilst Heroic seemed more switched on in the second half it was clear throughout the entirety of Inferno who the better team was. At 16-11 FaZe closed on the first map of the Bo3-series to their advantage.

The second map of the Bo3-series was set to be played on Nuke and was picked by Heroic. The map of Nuke has historically been a strong suit for the Danes, however, their poor win-rate of only 20% (5 games), paints a different picture as of recent times. The start to Nuke was also a challenging one for the Danes. Having difficulty with finding holes in the FaZe defense, and thanks to an impressive performance from IGL “karrigan”, it was FaZe to gain the advantage at 10-5 going into the second half of Nuke. The second half of Nuke was all FaZe. Heroic never managed to silence the offense of "karrigan" and his troops and at the scoreline of 16-5 FaZe had put the final nail in the coffin. With the 2-0 victory against Heroic, FaZe are set to face G2 in an intense Grand Final tomorrow.
