The downfall of North
They were supposed to be the new powerhouse of Danish CS:GO but ended in failure.
With today's announcement of the termination of North in CS:GO, we have taken a look at the Organization's four years in Counter-Strike.
It all started in January of 2017, when the CEO of the biggest Danish football club, FC Copenhagen announced the creation of a new eSports team, North. The football club had joined ranks with some of the biggest companies in the entertainment industry in Denmark to form the leading eSports brand in Scandinavia.
They acquired the old Team Dignitas roster to begin their journey to the top including names as "Magisk" and "k0nfig". They peaked at the world ranking in 2017 with 3rd place, while 2018 was the best year trophy wise with three victories at DreamHack events.
Since then it all went wrong. Despite having players as cadiaN, Valde, and Kjærbye on their roster, it never seemed to click for the ambitious Organization, who in their recent years have been more of a laughing stock due to the many changes and directions, that they have initiated. 21 players have represented the team in official matches which says a thing or two about the many players, that have been in or out of the team. Philip "aizy" Aistrup was the most consistent player with 806 maps played.
In all of 2020 North has been out of the top 20 on the world ranking. And on Friday the 5th of February 2021, it was all over for North.
