Xyp9x: My main goal is to find a home where I fit in and are able to win tournaments
In an interview with Pley.gg, the profiled rifler opens about his thoughts about the future.
Andreas ‘Xyp9x’ Højsleth has been an important and profiled figure on Astralis since the very beginning in 2016. The loyal servant has been a member of one of esports most winning and successful teams winning the Intel Grand Slam and no more than four Majors.
However, Xyp9x and Astralis may soon have to part ways, as his contract with the Danes expires at the end of this year. In a recent interview with Dexerto, Xyp9x himself stated that he was exploring his options by saying “I think now is a great opportunity to look around, see my options, and see what the future brings.”
We have sat down with Xyp9x to talk about his situation on Astralis and what he personally wishes to achieve in the future, with or without Astralis.
- I have been playing for Astralis for six years I believe it is. I think after dev1ce left, the boat has shaken a bit. I’m just looking for opportunities, where my main goal is to win tournaments and to find that home where I fit in and they can see me fit in. I’m not saying it can’t be Astralis, but it would be stupid not to evaluate your options when your contract is about to end.
"The most important thing is winning tournaments" - Xyp9x to Pley.gg
When asking Xyp9x about what he can bring to a team, the Danish rifler highlights his great experience and his strong abilities as a support player.
-I can add experience and a working culture (…) and I do feel like having experienced players on a team is very important. (…) New players who maybe tend to get nervous can lean on me in important games, which often creates nerves.
I also think I’m one of the best in my role. There are not many good support players in the scene in general, so I feel, I have a lot to bring to a team.
