Team Spirit takes down G2 at IEM Katowice
The collective overcame the individualists after three maps. Team Spirit now on a six-win streak.
The star-studded lineup from G2 faced the up-and-coming youngsters from Team Spirit in the first round of IEM Katowice. A must win match for G2 if they should have any hope of making a name for themselves at the event.
On Train they faced trouble from the get-go. G2 had zero wins on the map in the last three months, and they did not managed to change that statistic today. They did however manage to make a good comeback in the end of the map, which gave some optimism before moving on to Mirage.
Here G2 felt comfortable and won the map with ease 16-8.
Inferno was left as the decider. Here Team Spirit was once again back in command. They denied every comeback attempt from G2, who saw themselves trailing 10-5 at halftime, before eventually losing 16-10. A fine team performance from Team Spirit sends them to the upper bracket, while G2 has a lot of work to do in the lower bracket to advance in the tournament.
