Team Spirit grabs the first DH Open title of the year

Team Spirit are the champions of DreamHack Open January 2021 after dominating FunPlus Phoenix 3-0 in the grand final of the $70.000 event. DH Open January was FPP’s first tournament as a newly established team, however, the team still managed to show promising performances throughout the event. Spirit’s degster had an incredible night as he put on a stellar display and led the way for his team in tonight’s victory.

The action started on Dust2 and here was it FPP who got off to the best start with a 6-5 lead on the T-side. But STYKO and company didn’t manage to keep up their momentum, which resulted in Spirit provoking mistakes that helped them cruise to a 16-7 victory, taking the lead in the series. 

On the second map of the series, nothing much changed. Spirit came into the game with the same quick pace and took complete control on the attacking side where they closed out the map 16-6. The Russian-side continued to display crushing domination on their second map pick, Mirage. The newly established FPP got overwhelmed in the second half as Spirit stormed through to the title, closing out the map 16-8 to secure the series. 

MVP: 

Abdul “degster” Gasanov finished off the grand final as MVP in his tournament debut with Spirit at the event. The 19-year-old Russian have shown strong performances and proved his incredible level of Counter-Strike throughout the series.
