Spirit defeat forZe in DreamHack Open January
The CIS squad will now play Gambit in the Group B winners’ match for a spot in the playoffs.
Team Spirit took down their fellow countrymen from forZe in the group B opening match, taking the series 2-1. The action started on Dust2 and here was it forZe who were off to the best start to the series as stormed through to an 8-13 lead in the second half. But “degster” and company managed to pick themselves up to win 8 consecutive rounds in a row, closing out the map 16-13.
forZe answered back on Dust2 even though they were off to a bad start. They took control in the second half after being down 6-9. As the squad’s switches sides, Woro2k’s troops only allowed Spirit to grab 2 rounds before winning 7 rounds in a row to end the map 11-16. The series moved on to the decider on Train where Spirit controlled the pace of the game on T-side and dominated their fellow countrymen. Spirit made quick work out of forZe and won the map 16-6, closing out the series 2-1.
