s1mple complains about hotel: I never ever complained about this
The Ukrainian beast was not happy with the condition of his hotel in Malta.
Even though many of the pro players at ESL Pro League Season 16 are happy to be a part of the event and get the chance to play on the biggest stage of Counter-Strike, it is different for one of esports biggest stars, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev.
The Ukrainian superstar took to Twitter to voice his outrage at the state of the hotel rooms that the tournament organizers had provided during his stay for the event. NAVI’s s1mple cited a perceived lack of communication and professionalism between him and ESL.
During his stay, s1mple had been moved in and out of hotel rooms, in which he had dealt with unhealthy accommodations overall. In his Tweet, the 24-year-old Ukrainian took aim at ESL’s professionalism, saying “Hey @ESL wake up and tell your employees to remember what professionalism is, terrible communication with the teams and with this shit hotel.”
Not long after the first Tweet, s1mple then shared an image of the conditions in his hotel room in Malta after some people accused him for always complaining. In the image that s1mple shared, it’s clear to see the unhealthy amount of mold he had to deal with.
I don’t wanna complain but if I wake up with ants in the bed and look at the wall on the mold in a 4-star hotel then I don’t know.
ESL’s Senior Vice President of Game Ecosystems, Ulrich “TheFLyingDJ” Schulze said in a Reddit post that s1mple was moved to a new hotel room after reaching out to the staff of ESL. Ulrich also mentioned that the team has had an active dialogue with all players and teams since the beginning of the event in Malta.
s1mple got a different room when he notified our staff of the issue (which he did not do before the tweet). We have had a fairly active dialog with all teams and players since the start of EPL, working out solutions to various topics that were raised, so we had an active communication channel for those topics set up.
Later he added that they were “still investigating” the issues and that the Ukrainian AWPer was the only player out of 24 teams, who had complained.
"We are still investigating, but the hotel is high standard and none of the 24 EPL teams has so far mentioned mold issues in any way. Since s1mple has lived in that hotel since their group stage matches, we are working with the hotel to identify how that specific room developed mold issues."
