OG surprises Virtus.pro with masterclass performance!
The upper bracket semi-final of Group B from the IEM Summer 2021 delivered a surprising game with OG beating Virtus.pro.
The first map was on Mirage, where the game where very even throughout the first half, as Virtus.pro was in front and won the first half 8-7 as the T side, and they gave themselves great prerequisites before the second half as the CT side.
But OG stepped up their game from here and they bulldozed through the defense from Virtus.pro who seemed to still be on the break as OG took over the game and they didn’t look back from here.
They ended up winning the second half on Mirage 9-2 as the T side, a near-perfect performance by the underdog who won the first map 16-10.
The second map was on Overpass in the tunnels where OG didn’t stop the domination from the second half on Mirage.
In the first half on Overpass, they seemed to easily beat the offensive plays from Virtus.pro, they seemed unstoppable at this moment. They won the first half 11-4, and the game seemed to be a formality from here on as seemed unbeatable.
In the second half OG put on the cruise control as they managed to win five out of twelve rounds, which was enough for them to win the map and game, they won the map 16-11.
