North faces tough opponent in important qualifier
This Saturday features two upper bracket semi-finals in the qualifier for IEM Beijing-Haidian.
The opening round yesterday has formed the following semi-finals:
12:00
Spirit – North
Sprout – K23
In the first matchup, Spirit has to try to carry on the incredible form they have shown over the last couple of weeks, winning 7 out their last 8 matches. The Russian team have established an exciting roster which holds strong weapons in mir, iDISBALANCE and the promising talent magixx. They are alongside Virtus.pro, Gambit and forZE part of an astonishing development in the CIS region that for a long time only has had NAVI as a continuous contender on the top of the scene.
Their challenger North has on the contrary, struggled for a long time now. They didn’t manage to qualify for Flashpoint 2 and haven’t shown many bright points lately. Losing big profiles as Kjaerbye and valde seems to be much harder blow than first expected.
In the other semi-final Sprout stands as the clear favourites when they take on K23 who a bit surprisingly took down Nemiga yesterday. The lower bracket rounds will be played afterwards consisting:
15:00
Nemiga - Illuminar
FATE - Endpoint.
