NIP, Vitality, FaZe, and BIG qualifies for IEM Cologne main event
The four teams won both their matches on the first day of the IEM Cologne Play-in.
Two teams were sent home, while the above-mentioned rosters can look forward to be a part of the $1.000.000 tournament.
Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Vitality, FaZe, and BIG all impressed with strong performances in their return to LAN.
The Swedish Ninjas took care of LDLC 16-6, before defeating mousesports 2-0 without any problems.
Vitality had no problems with the Australians from Renegades, but against Spirit they had to work for the qualification, but managed to grind the victory home 2-1.
FaZe came back to LAN with style taking care of both Evil Geniuses and Complexity along the way.
tabseN certainly also enjoyed being back on LAN.
In his hometown, he completely annihilated fellow Germans from Sprout, while OG also had to deal with a strong BIG roster, who came out firing on all cylinders to win 2-0.
It was heartbreaking scenes after MIBR missed seven match points in their opening match against Spirit. And it only got worse against Renegades in the elimination match, where MIBR once again threw a 15-11 lead, and subsequently ended up losing the match. Bad News Bears are also out of the tournament after a disappointing showing.
IEM Cologne will continue tomorrow.
