NAVI coach: flamie can’t compete right now because of the intense pressure he’s under
B1ad3 opens up about his struggling player and why NAVI decided to demote him earlier this month.
The CS:GO titans from Natus Vincere haven’t commenced 2021 as they probably would have hoped and expected. The dominant Russians have struggled for months now, despite winning BLAST Premier Global Final back in January, which stands as a clear contrast to their disappointing results at IEM Katowice and ESL Pro League Season 13.
The biggest problem for NAVI has been the tame and very weak individual performances by their players – Everyone besides Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev of course. The standout player for the CIS giants has been Egor “flamie” Vasilev. The 24-year old rifler has throughout the last 3 months, presented career-low numbers, with flamie averaging a poor 0.97 Rating. s1mple, on the other hand, is putting up an insane 1.35 Rating.
2021 have not been a successful year so far for flamie and the rest of NAVI
NAVI head coach, Andrii "B1ad3" Gorodenskyi has now touched on flamie and his troublesome period for the team, and why they decided to bench him for the next couple of event. B1ad3 explains that he’s under intense pressure, and how he thinks it’s best for him to not compete.
- I think now, is not the time for Egor to play because he’s been under pressure lately and therefore, he can’t do his best. Working with the psychologist isn’t helping, neither is different advice, nor good performances. This additional work hasn’t been much of a help because there’s still the pressure factor.
Even though flamie has been a part of NAVI for 6 years, B1ad3 explains that the experienced can get nervous before and during a match.
- There is a lot of inconsistency and I think it may have to do with him being uptight and under intense pressure. He has realized that he has to produce more consistent results, now that he shares maps with B1T. He was getting slightly nervous in-game, even before B1T joined us. I think in order to make progress for Egor, he needs to take some time off, work on himself, reflect on some things, and come back with renewed vigour.
