Navi beats MAD Lions 19-15 in a close third map thriller!
An overtime thriller on the third map saw Navi defeating MAD Lions!
The first map took place on MAD Lions' territory Nuke. It was also the Danes to have the strongest start to the map, which saw them cementing a promising lead in the early stages of the map. The map was heavily impacted by the respective teams' AWP'ers, and despite S1mples best efforts it was Acor's AWP to have the most impact. With Acor's 25 kills and overall stellar performance, MAD Lions carried on with their winning ways and ultimately defeated Navi with a score of 16-8.
The series continued over on Train, Navi's map pick. And whilst it was MAD Lions who looked the superior team over on Nuke, a different story was about to play out on Train. With S1mple leading the way, the Ukrainian and Russian roster came flying out the doors and saw themselves leading 11-4 going into the second half. MAD Lions managed to claw back a couple of rounds but were unable to answer Navi's fast-paced strategy and would have to look towards Overpass instead, as Navi closed out Train with a convincing 16-7 victory.
This, of course, meant a third and final map between the two rosters. The victor was to be found over on Overpass. A map that historically has been an issue for the Navi roster. Whereas the first map had MAD Lions' name written all over it, and Navi rolled through their competitors on the second map, the third map seemed to promise a close and intense match already from the start. And exactly that was the case. Exchanging rounds the two teams refused to give an inch to their opponents.
With acoR on top of the leaderboard with 27 kills and S1mple not far behind with 22 kills, they continued the battle in overtime. Navi's experience showed as they won the first three rounds of overtime, seemingly unfazed by the pressure. With Navi only having to win a single round in the second half of overtime, it seemed too big of a task for the Danish underdogs. It turned out that this was exactly the case as the Navi veteran Flamie closes out the tense series with a 19-15 victory on Overpass.
