mantuu on playing against Virtus.pro: Once you have taken out YEKINDAR, it gets fairly easy
OG's star AWPer seems to have cracked the code on how to beat the powerful Russian team.
Yesterday marked the start of Group B at ESL Pro League Season 14, which contain star-studded teams like G2, Virtus.pro, and OG. The latter team got off to a flying start, as Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen and his troops tore Virtus.pro apart in the opening round.
OG was dominant throughout the entire match and Virtus.pro seemed to have no response to OG’s well-oiled machine. OG’s profiled AWPer Mateusz "mantuu" Wilczewski said in the post-match interview with ESL that they were quite easy to play against, once their star player was taken out.
We watched a lot of demos on him, and especially Aleksi (Aleksib) told me a lot of stuff he likes to do. So we were just expecting every single aggressive peek he tried to do, and yeah we just tried to counter these aggressive plays essentially - Once you have cancelled out YEKINDAR, it does get fairly easy. OG managed to control Virtus.pro's best player Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis in yesterday's match
mantuu was a big factor for OG’s great start to ESL Pro League Season 14, as he alongside Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen posted stellar numbers versus the Russian side. The 23-year-old sniper ended the match with a 40-20 K-D / 1.35 Rating scoreboard.
You can watch mantuu reflect on OG’s goals and expectations for the ongoing $750.000 event in the interview down below.
The analyst and expert Jacob "Pimp" Winneche joins in on the discussion concerning Virtus.pro and YEKINDAR, where Pimp agrees on mantuu's perception of the Russian team and their strats. The former pro explains how it looks like the round is over for VP every time YEKINDAR dies.
