Hobbit on Gambit’s impressive rise to the top: I’m really proud of the guys!
The veteran rifler has high praise for his young teammates and the smart minds outside of the server.
The Russian top team of Gambit has been on everybody’s lips the last couple of months, with the young CIS team having skyrocketed onto the very elite stage of CS:GO. Led by the young star AWPer Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov, Gambit has racked up huge titles at IEM Katowice, Pinnacle Cup, and multiple MIDNITE Nine to Five wins.
And in the start of this week, the youngsters reached another impressive milestone, as they could call themselves the #1 team in the world on HLTV’s official ranking. An extremely remarkable achievement. Especially when you consider that, 6 months they were the academy team of Gambit, playing at tier-2-3 tournaments.
We at Pley.gg sat down with the most experienced figure on the Gambit roster Abay “Hobbit” Khassenov to talk about the incredible journey and how it could happen so fast. In the interview, the 27-year old star rifler also touches on his personal goals for the future.
Hobbit and the rest of Gambit are playing their next match against NASR this Wednesday evening at 15:00 (CET). The matchup from BLAST Premier Spring Showdown is an elimination match which means that every map counts. This is how Hobbit reflects on the match.
- They are underdogs for sure. However, we do not know what to expect from them. They can surprise us by out-aiming us or maybe playing really confident because they are the underdogs.
